It can also help identify email accounts or workstations that may be sending out spam because they are compromised by a virus or hacker. - Implementing SpamWeeder Premium can be completed in as little as one hour. All incoming emails first pass through the filtering system.
- If a message is identified as blatant spam, it will be rejected. Other suspicious emails will be added to the spam quarantine. If a message does not trigger the filtering mechanisms and is deemed legitimate, it will be sent on to the mail server.
- A daily digest of quarantined messages can be sent to an administrator and/or employees with configured accounts. Users can log into their SpamWeeder Premium account and decide whether to discard the held messages or release them to their inbox.
- An administrator can log into the web-based portal to adjust filtering settings, update the white/black lists, view reports and logs, along with other management functions.
- Messages sent internally (between employees on the same mail server) do not pass through the filtering gateways.
- If outbound filtering is enabled, emails sent from your mail server to outside recipients will also pass through the filtering. Emails with viruses or other suspicious content will be blocked or quarantined.
SpamWeeder Premium Filtering Parameters
A variety of evaluation methods are used to give each email a score based on the likelihood that it could be spam. These measures combined provide a filtering accuracy level close to 100 percent with a near-zero false-positive ratio.
For every inbound message, SpamWeeder Premium checks the reputation of the sending mail server. A variety of blacklists, SPF checks, and other tests are performed to determine the legitimacy of the sender. Some reputation checks (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) can be enabled or disabled by an administrator. In addition, exceptions can be added to not check particular trusted domains or IPs.
SpamWeeder Premium uses a large number of classifiers to evaluate the message content. If an email includes spammy language, profanity, or other suspcious wording, it will be flagged or quarantined. These content definitions are updated automatically to guard against the latest threats and scams.
The SpamWeeder system can be configured to block specific attachment types that are likely to be malicious. For example, any messages with .exe or .zip files could be automatically quarantined. This parameter could also be used with outbound filtering to prevent potentially sensitive documents from being sent outside the company network.
A restriction can be placed on total email size. This filtering criteria helps prevent emails with large attachments from being delivered to or sent outside your network. Administrators or users can then check the spam quarantine to release messages they know are legitimate.
Domain-wide approved or blocked senders lists can be used to override filtering controls. An administrator can add based on email address, domain, or TLD.

MX Record Protection
The SpamWeeder Premium records will replace your existing MX records. This DNS configuration ensures that all messages pass through the email security system. In addition, it makes it more difficult for spammers to directly target your company mail server.
The SpamWeeder Premium system receives real-time updates for protection against the latest threat patterns based on worldwide databases that analyze millions of emails per day.
Control Filtering Levels
An administrator can adjust domain-wide filtering settings to determine the threshold to quarantine a message or mark it with a notation.
To help train and fine tune the filtering engine, users may report spam by uploading .eml or .msg files within the web-based control panel.
SpamWeeder Premium service includes four nodes in two PoPS (Points of Presence) for better reliability.
Four days of failover are included in the event that your email system is unavailable. For protection against longer periods of downtime, Webservio offers Mail Bagging. To continue sending and receiving messages during mail server downtime, add Message Continuity service.
Delivery Attempt Cycle
If your email system is unavailable, messages will be held and delivery re-attempted on a recurring cycle.

Statistics and Reports
Reports are available in PDF or HTML format and can be emailed to specified addresses daily or weekly.
Administrators can search message logs up to 4 weeks prior. Searches can be customized according to email header information, such as sender, recipient, subject, message ID, and more. Searches can be further refined based on how the message was classified by the filtering system and the delivery status. Log search results can be exported as a .csv file.
